You’ve always loved telling stories. As no other you realize that this can be done in many different ways, but there’s one method that’s your absolute favorite: a movie. There’s been so many amazing movies, why not try to make your own? In this blog, we’ll try to help you with this, by giving you the five steps you need to take in order to make a movie. Good luck!
1. Writing
The first step seems pretty obvious, but more often than you’d expect, people don’t actually start a movie by writing it. We do recommend doing this, as this of course is the most important part of your movie. Writing is more than just writing a story: there’s the story that needs to be correct, but also different characters and an entire world that need to be created. As everything needs to make sense, this will take some time, but you will earn this back in further steps.
2. Screenwriting
Now that your story has found shape, it’s time for you to take it in a bit more technical direction. You’ve chosen to write a movie, which means you also have to think about how you want to film this. Of course, you don’t have to do this on your own: there are tons of experts that can help you with your screenwriting. They know what shot makes sense in what condition, so your movie will not only have a great storyline but is also visually appealing.
3. Scouting
Your story is completely finished. Now it’s time to fill in your movie. Of course, you’ll be the director of everything, but there’s other roles that need to be filled as well, mainly your actors. Finding the right actors for your movie might be hard, unless you already know who you want in what position. This makes things a lot easier, as you now only need to convince them to join your movie. The same can be said about other roles, such as cameramen and editors.
4. Shooting the movie
It’s the most fun part of making a movie, but at the same time it’s also very stressful. For the perfect movie, everything needs to be perfect. You’re the director, so you’re who’s accounted for the success of everything. You don’t stop until you’re fully satisfied with the results. This might sound like more stress than fun, but in reality there’s tons of fun happening on set all the time. You get to see your movie grow from a story to a full movie – how awesome is that?
5. DMCA protection
The last step in finalizing your movie is editing it; for many directors this is the most scary part. You have to give your movie out of hands, which means it could fall into the wrong hands. By investing in DMCA protection, you make sure that no one can benefit of your movie illegally, which means you’re able to share your movie with editors without worrying.
Grab the popcorn!
Your movie is finished. It’s time for you to gather a bunch of friends and family and watch the movie together, or if you’re ambitious, you can even try to get it into the theaters. Lights, camera, action!
